Building Hope, Home and Community

for men, women, and families throughout Durham Region

Housing

Housing Is A Basic Need.
People are unable to take care of their physical and mental health, find work, go to school, connect with family, work on their addiction, and work on their overall wellbeing when they do not know where their next meal is coming from or where they will sleep tonight.
Cornerstone Provides A Continuum Of Housing To The Homeless In Durham Region, From Emergency Shelter To Rent Geared Independent Living.
Support staff from each housing program accompany our tenants on their journey through our housing continuum. We house the person first and case workers provide dedicated social service support to tenants and those housed in the community. Our belief is that those who do not have a home are unable to stabilize and become healthy until their basic needs are met. Cornerstone’s housing supports range from:
Emergency Shelter
A short-term need serving homeless men.
Emergency Shelter And Support For Families
Households requiring temporary/emergency accommodation may be referred to the emergency shelter and support program for families
Correction Residential Facility
Often referred to as a halfway house, in support of male inmates who have completed their prison terms.
Transitional Housing

The first step towards independent living.

Permanent Rent-Geared To Income Housing

For individuals who have achieved a greater sense of independence this housing has supports ranging from 24/7 to almost entire independence.

“Our belief is that those who do not have a home are unable to stabilize and become healthy until their basic needs are met.”
